QUESTIONS
Compared to conventional pottery clays, air-dry clay doesn’t need to be fired in a kiln. You can sculpt, dry, and paint your creations from home.
Drying times may vary depending on the object size and the room drying conditions (temperature and ventilation of the room).
Let your creations dry for at least 48 hours; thicker creations may take 3-4 days to dry completely.
Air-dry clay is not waterproof. However, you can make your Fikart creation water resistant by covering it with several layers of the varnish included in this kit. Allow it to dry 30 minutes between each layer and 72 hours before any exposure to moisture.
You can use any type of paint including acrylics and watercolors. You can also use markers, pencils, and even nail polish. In your kit, you’ll find white acrylic paint, varnish, and two paint brushes.
You can create all kinds of decorative and/or practical objects such as: candle holders, vases, jewelry dishes, planters, wall hangings, coasters or charming sculptures. We do not recommend making dishes or cups that will get in direct contact with water. Vases and flower pots can be made as long as you use an inner plastic or glass container, to protect the dry clay from the moist of the soil. Fikart was designed primarily for adults; however, it is suitable for teens and children. We recommend it as an at-home activity for the whole family. Children ages 5 and up will be able to enjoy it and make the most of it, while younger children may need more guidance and supervision and may not be able use carving tools.
Fikart is not suitable for children under 3 years of age because accidental ingestion of clay could cause drowning.
